The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) says it would address out of school syndrome and restore the lost glory of education in Yobe state if elected come 2023 general elections.
Malam Garba Umar, the party’s gubernatorial candidate in the state made this known while addressing newsmen on Friday in Damaturu.
“We will provide additional schools in Yobe to accommodate a teaming number of youth that are out of school both male and female.
He promised to rehabilitate all dilapidated educational structures in the state for quality education.
“We will ensure by God’s grace that all classrooms accommodate not more than 40 students.
Umar said his administration would provide adequate and qualified teachers in the schools of the state.
“For us to achieve that, I am of the opinion that, we have to go back to the system of establishing teacher training institutions that had been abandoned.”
The aspirant also promised to upgrade the state’s educational system for the student become internationally competitive.
“I intend to make Yobe one of the best states as far as education is concerned.”, he added.
Meanwhile, Umar He lamented that the state was indebted to the tune of hundred billions.
“We intended to be very professional and judicious in managing the state’s resources.
“We will not allow the state to be short-changed by anybody.”
He said the had been misruled small group of people from its creation to date.
“They have been pilfering and mismanaging our resources. We have not been getting value for our money.”, he outcried.
He also observed that Yobe sta was one of the few states in the country that failed to comply with the N30,000 minimum wage.
“They have not been paying basic minimum wages that have been prescribed by law.
”It is only in this state workers are receiving N18,000 as monthly salary”
He said, his administration would carried out qualitative projects that would stand the test of time rather than projects that became dilapidated before usage.
Umar also said administration would move agricultural sector from subsistence to mechanized farming.
He added that fertilizers and other farm inputs would be available for farmers on time to boost their productivity.
