Yobe governor seeks NEDC’s help to empower youths

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni has appealed to the North-East Development Commission (NEDC) to step up its entrepreneurship program for the youth in the state.

The governor made the appeal while receiving the commission’s management team on a visit to the state on Saturday.

Buni, who was represented by his Deputy, Alhaji Idi Gubana, said the state has a high number of unemployed youths, and that the government cannot accommodate them all.

He urged the NEDC to build and equip entrepreneurship skills centers in the state, so that students can graduate as self-employed individuals.

Buni commended NEDC for its various capital-intensive projects in the state.

NEDC Chairman Governing Council, Mr Paul Tarfa, said they were in Yobe to inspect ongoing projects and to strengthen their relationship with the government.

He assured the Yobe government of the commission’s continued support.

The team also inspected various projects being undertaken by the NEDC in the state.
