World Bank inspects recovery projects in Yobe

A world bank team led by Fuad Malkawi has visited Yobe state government to assess progress so far made by the state government and other development partners in the state post insurgency recovery program.

He said the visit was to hear from the government and its counterparts about their needs towards future plans of action for further interventions towards improving the livelihood of displaced persons in the state.

He said the recovery plan would not be limited to the works of renovation and rehabilitation but assessing the challenges faced by the IDP host communities to invest towards improving their livelihoods.

Responding, Governor Mai Mala Buni listed areas for further interventions that includes rehabilitation and renovation of structures destroyed by the insurgents such as educational and health structures and housings for displaced communications.

He pointed out that the state government and created a co-orinterventionsing committee to ensure harmonisation of intervention activities and avoid duplication of works.

He therefore urged all intervening partners to disclose their areas on interventions and lias with the committee to ensure proper intervention.
