NEDC, JICA Donates 112 Public Address Systems to North-East
The North-East Development Commission (NEDC), in collaboration with the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA), has donated 112 public address systems to the six states of the North-East region.
Dr. Garba Iliya, the Executive Director of Administration and Finance of NEDC, made the announcement while presenting some of the systems to the Yobe State government on Monday in Damaturu.
He said the donation was in response to a request made by Community Development Officers during a general needs assessment conducted across 112 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the region.
“The need assessment showed that there was a common need for public address systems,” Iliya said. “JICA asked us to identify areas of intervention, and we requested public address systems.
“JICA provided 112 public address systems across the North-East. We are here today to deliver the public address systems for this state on behalf of JICA.”
Ilya added that the Managing Director of NEDC had promised to provide more public address systems to Yobe State, realizing the importance of the systems.
He urged the beneficiaries to use the systems judiciously.
In his remarks, Alhaji Modu Gashua, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information, thanked NEDC for the donation and other projects in the state.
