Bade-Jakusko Federal Constituency lawmaker Alhaji Hassan Jakduwa (IBN Jaks) has taken a proactive step towards poverty alleviation and self-reliance in his constituency by facilitating a training program for 250 constituents on fishery and poultry farming.
The training, which was inaugurated on Tuesday in Gashua, covered general knowledge of fishery and poultry farming, steps to be taken before starting each, investment strategies, different types and methods of fish and poultry farming, and construction and management of fish ponds and poultry farms.
In a bid to support the newly trained constituents, Jakduwa also provided each participant with N30,000 as start-up capital.
Additionally, he facilitated the distribution of 1260 (100kg) bags of millet, maize, and guinea corn, 275 bags (100kg) of bean seedlings, and 275 bags (50kg) of N.P.K. 15.15.15 fertilizer across the 20 wards of Bade-Jakusko Federal Constituency.
The targeted beneficiaries included heads of households, widows, the physically challenged, and various groups and associations.
The training and distribution of farm inputs were met with gratitude and enthusiasm from the participants.
Malam Hauwa Saleh, one of the participants, expressed her appreciation for the opportunity and called for more engagement of capacity-building activities.
Similarly, Malam Usman Abdullahi, another participant, urged his fellow trainees to utilize the knowledge they gained to improve their livelihoods.
Jakduwa’s initiative aligns with the government’s efforts to promote agricultural development and empower rural communities. By providing constituents with the necessary skills and resources.
Jakduwa is laying the foundation for a more prosperous and sustainable future for his constituents.
