WHO Calls for Protection of Health during Israel-Hamas Conflict

There is a war happening between Israel and Hamas. The World Health Organization (WHO) wants to make sure that people’s health is protected during this war.

Since October 7, 2023, many civilians have been killed or injured in the conflict.

In the Gaza Strip, there have been airstrikes and a shortage of medical supplies, food, water, and fuel. This has made the healthcare system even worse, which was already not well-equipped.

Hospitals are very crowded because there are more patients and many people who have been forced to leave their homes and need shelter.

Important health services like care for mothers and babies and treatment for chronic illnesses are being affected badly.

In Israel, many civilians, including children and elderly people, have been taken as hostages.

There have been attacks on healthcare in both Israel and the occupied Palestinian territory. Health workers and patients have been hurt or killed, and hospitals and ambulances have been damaged.

The WHO is working with other organizations to help with the most urgent health needs. They are giving medical supplies that can save lives.

The WHO wants everyone involved in the war to make sure that people’s health is protected. They want everyone to be able to go to the doctor and get the care they need safely.
