The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Yobe Council, has lauded Gov. Mai Mala Buni for good governance and execution of people-oriented projects in the state.
The Council Chairman, Alhaji Rajab Muhammad made the commendation at the end of project inspection and assessment tour across the state on Thursday in Damaturu.
He said the tour had given journalists opportunities to witness efforts of the state and local government councils towards improving lives of the people.
“The transformation in the health, education, infrastructural developments among other sectors are quite exciting and fulfilling.
“We have seen how the healthcare delivery is taken to the doorsteps of the people,” he said.
He said Buni’s administration had established 140 Primary Healthcare Centres (PHC) across 17 LGAs, which saved border communities the trouble of travelling to seek for medical services elsewhere.
The administration according him also upgraded eight other PHC to General Hospitals; upgraded Potiskum, Gashua, Geidam and Buni-Yadi General Hospitals to Specialist Hospitals.
In the area of employment, the chairman said, governor Buni had employed 1,200 additional midwives and nurses and 2,670 graduates among others.
While he appealed to state government to maintain the tempo, Muhammad said journalists would continue to draw the attention of the government where necessary.
