Yobe Healthcare Authority Takes Action Against Unlicensed Facilities

Yobe State Healthcare and Health-related Facilities Inspection and Monitoring Agency (YOHFIMA) has undertaken decisive measures to protect public health by shutting down several private healthcare facilities operating illegally within the state.

Announced by Executive Secretary Dr. Yusuf Bukar Ngamdu, the closures targeted institutions exceeding their authorized scope, potentially jeopardizing the well-being of Yobe residents.

He said the affected facilities were found operating illegally and providing certificates and rendering clinical services in excess of what they were allowed by law.

The facilities, according to him were Medical Career Guidance, Potiskum, North East Biotech Services Limited, Public Health Consultancy Services, Potiskum, Auxiliary International Health Sciences Academy, Nguru.

Others were Iqmi International Modern School Study Centre Potiskum, Aminci Nursing Home and Maternity Damaturu and, An Unnamed radio-diagnostic center opposite Primary Healthcare centre Dogon Zare, Potiskum.

Therefore, Ngamdu advised members of the public particularly patients, parents and guardians, to stop patronising the aforementioned healthcare and health-related training facilities in their own interest.

He also warned private and public healthcare facilities in the state against employing products of these health-related training institutions

He said those who ignored the instruction would face the wrath of the law.

The Executive Secretary further urged all public and private healthcare facilities in the state that were yet registered with the agency to do so.

He added the agency would not accept any violation of the registration deadline.
