Mrs Fatima Usman, the Programme Officer, Small Town Wash Activity (STWASH)
in Yobe has urged the media to scale up campaign on Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) to promote healthy living.

She made the call at a media network general meeting on Tuesday in Damaturu, saying “media plays a critical role
in ensuring the success of the WASH campaign by amplifying its importance to the public.”

Usman said that the major objective of the meeting was to have deeper understanding of the WASH Media Network’s
relevance to the campaign.

She added that “the network can also influence media commitment and contributions toward
promoting and ensuring sustainability of WASH service delivery in the state through mass awareness.”

She explained that the campaign is being funded by USAID, implemented by Water Aid, Mercy Corps and Taimako
Development Initiative.

She appealed to the public to be committed to the campaign for a safer, clean and healthy environment and good health.

The General Manager, Yobe State Television (YTV), Alhaji Yusuf Isa and his Yobe Broadcasting Corporation (YBC) counterpart,
Alhaji Musa Galadima, assured their commitments to the success of the campaign in Yobe.
