Yobe Governor Supports Victims of Insurgent Attack on Convoy


Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state has presented a house and financial assistance to security personnel who were injured during an attack by insurgents on the Maiduguri-Damaturu road on November 18, 2023.

In a statement on Friday, Alhaji Baba Malam-Wali, the Secretary to the State Government, announced the governor’s actions.

Governor Buni expressed his condolences to the affected officers and offered prayers for the soul of the officer who lost his life in the attack.

He emphasized the appreciation of the Yobe government and people for the sacrifices made by security personnel in ensuring peace within the state.

He urged them to continue their good work and assured them of the state government’s unwavering support.

Mohammed Maina, an officer who died during the attack, was posthumously honored. His wife, Mrs. Sadiya Maina, received N2 million to start a business and N1 million to cover the school fees of their two children.

Additionally, they were presented with a house worth N7.5 million in Damaturu, the state capital.

Other security personnel who sustained injuries during the attack were each given N1 million.

On November 18, 2023, Governor Buni’s convoy was ambushed along the Maiduguri-Damaturu highway by suspected Boko Haram insurgents.
