The theme for this year’s celebration was “Invest in Women Accelerate Progress.”

“We aimed to bring together successful career women from various fields, alongside school children, to inspire young women and encourage them to achieve success in the future,” Ogungbemi said.

He explained that the invited guests included medical doctors, university lecturers, and school teachers, among other professional and successful women.

Ogungbemi emphasized the importance of International Women’s Day in promoting gender equality.

“This day serves as a platform to raise awareness about gender equality and provide women with opportunities to participate in decision-making processes, including politics,” he explained.

Represented by Hajiya Fatsima Hassan, Director of Women Affairs emphasised the importance of the programme.
