The Yobe State Independent Electoral Commission (YSIEC), has announced the postponement of the state’s local government area elections from May 25 to June 8.

Dr Mamman Mohammed, Chairman of the commission made this known while addressing newsmen on Wednesday in Damaturu.

”The May 25 date of election as earlier broadcasted is no longer realistic due to logistics issues and other reasons that may impede seamless, free and fair election.

“It therefore, became imperative to adjust the date of the election to June 8. That is two weeks after May 25,” he said.

He expressed gratitude to Gov. Mai Mala Buni for his consistent support of the commission’s endeavors and for his exemplary leadership that embodied the principles of good governance.

He extended his sincere appreciation to the media, security personnel, representatives of all political parties and electoral staff for their understanding and support.
