Army Commander charges Yobe journalists on balanced reportage
Maj.-Gen. Koko Isoni, the newly posted Commander, Sector 2 Joint Task Force North East, Operation Hadin Kai, on Wednesday charged journalists on balanced reportage.
Isoni made this known at the Sector’s Headquarters in Damaturu, Yobe, when he played host to Alhaji Rajab Mohammed, state Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ)
He said that balancing reports enhances accuracy and credibility in news writing.
“ There are so many inaccurate narratives about insurgency; always get across to us for balancing and clarification before going to press,” the commander said.
Isoni noted that troops alone could not end insurgency, without the necessary support and co-operation of members of the public.
He assured that the Sector would continue to involve journalists in its activities, in view of the pivotal role played by journalists in public enlightenment.
In his remarks, Mohammed said he was at the headquarters to familiarise with the commander and congratulate him on his recent posting to the state.
He assured Isoni that journalists would accord priority to covering activities of the Sector.
