Two middle age cyclists- Suleiman Halilu, 33 and Kamilu Bala, 29 say they plan to ride on their bicycles from Damaturu to Katsina in honour of the state governor-elect, Dr Umar Radda.

Halilu, one of the cyclists, said this when he briefed newsmen shortly before they commenced the 605 kilometre journey from Damaturu on Wednesday.

“We are members of the Katsina Community living in Damaturu, but we were born and brought up in Katsina.

“Our main purpose is to express our happiness for the victory of Dr Umar Radda in the March 18 Katsina governorship poll,’’ he said.

Halilu said that the trip was in fulfillment of a promise earlier made by the duo to embark on the trip should Radda win the governorship election.
“So this is an act of fulfilling our promise. We also want to congratulate the people of Katsina state for electing the governor to govern and represent them,” he added.

He expressed optimism that the governor-elect would perform optimally and transform the state for the better place.

“This is because we saw his performance as Chief of Staff of Gov. Bello Masari.

“He also has an impeccable record as a two term Director-General of Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) under president Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

“Therefore, due to his exemplary leadership and tremendous achievements, the people of Katsina, especially youths, elected him as the new governor of the state,” he added.
