Governor John Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti, the Chairman, Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has said that inequality is the root cause of insecurity in Nigeria.

Fayemi, an All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential aspirant said this while meeting the party delegates in Damaturu on Thursday.

”The root cause, in my own humble opinion lies in inequality in our society. The wide gap between the rich and the poor, which needs to be bridged.

“But we cannot resolve insecurity crises without addressing its root cause, because that in itself is affecting the national cohesion and unity.”, he said.

The presidential aspirant said that the country needed someone with vast knowledge and capacity to lead.

“Somebody who is sufficiently exposed to know Nigeria from all its various nature, who knows the complexity of our country.

“Someone who understands the challenges of each segment of our population, and who brings all Nigerian together,” he said.

Fayemi further said that looking at his age and the wealth of experience acquired, he could be a better president of Nigeria in 2023.

Responding, Mr Aji Bularafa, the Special Adviser to Gov. Mai Mala Buni, on Politics said he was grateful to Fayemi for taking time to visit the state.

He added that the people of Yobe were aware of the Fayemi’s charismatic leadership style and role played in the formation of the APC as a political party.
