FG, Yobe Govt collaborate to address revenue irregularities

Damaturu, Nov 26, 2022 (NAN) The revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMFC) and Yobe Government on Saturday commenced a three-day interactive meeting to identify and correct revenue anomalies.

Hajiya Salamatu Bala, who led commission’s delegations stated this at the inauguration of the session in Damaturu.

She said following the complaints received from most of the federation accounts, commission deemed it necessary to embark on the exercise in line with its mandate as required by law to correct identified anomalies.

Bala explained that the exercise was not intended to audit the finances of the state or local government councils.

She said it was meant to compare what was disbursed at the federal account with what the states were actually entitled to.

“The aims is to assist in identifying any irregularities, misapplication of revenue indices in respective to the sharing of the revenue to the beneficiaries of the federation account.”, she said.

In his remarks, Gov Mai Mala Buni also explained that, revenue mobilisation commission were the responsible agency on revenue allocation to all the three ties of government – federal, state and local governments.

Buni, represented by Baba Malam-Wali, the Secretary to Yobe State Government, noted tha ,the exercise was very important to the state.

He also assures the delegation all the necessary support through out the exercise in the state.
