Gov Mai Mala Buni enjoined Yobe youth to join the Nigerian Army, Police and other security agencies to reduce the rate of unemployment and poverty alleviation.
Buni made the appeal while receiving some cadets graduates from the Nigerian Defence Academy on Saturday in Damaturu.
The governor charged Local Government Chairmen and community leaders to encourage and facilitate recruitment from the grassroots for the state to have the right number of men and women in the security Agencies.
He added that parents and other well-meaning Nigerians should make efforts to encourage upright and responsible citizens to apply for recruitment in the security agencies.
He said if the educated and upright youth were motivated to join and remain in the army and police, the country would definitely be on the way to having the right number of men and women needed for an efficient military and police forces.
Buni noted that the military and the police were indispensable to a peaceful and growing country that is determined to have effective internal security.
“We must continuously encourage our youths in our community to join the army, police and other security Agencies.
“We must come together as a community to ensure that our youths whether graduates or school certificate holders are encourage to join the army and the police.
“I believe we should encourage the youth to join the police and armed forces. We may not appreciate the importance of encouraging them to join the police and other armed forces until in the future. When we are all retired.
“We will continue to do all that is within our capacity to ensure that our people that are willing to join the army and the police are encouraged, Governor Buni said.
