Kano state government under Dr Abdullahi Ganduje on Wednesday, Nov 30 banned tricycle riders (Adaidaita Sahu) from operating on some major roads within Kano metropolis.
This is contained in a statement issued by Mr Nabilusi Na’isa, the Public Relations Officer of Kano Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA), on Tuesday, Nov 29.
According to the statement, state government had provided 100 ultra-modern buses and 50 taxis that would be conveying passengers on the listed roads within that state.
“Adaidaita Sahu drivers (tricycle operators) are prohibited from following Ahmadu Bello Way by Mundubawa road to Gazawa and Tal’udu road to Gwarzo,” the statement partly read.
The government added that it had provided the buses in order to enhance transportation in the state and to make it easier for people to follow affected routes.
Statement also said, the government would announce when tricycle operators would stop using some other major roads in the state when it provides more ultra-modern buses and taxis to ease traffic congestion in the commercial city.
Recall that following series of criminal activities linked to tricycle operators or allies had led to the loss of lives properties, state government on July 21, 2021 had restricted the operations of tricycles from 6:00 to 10:00pm.
This was after a series of criminal activities in Kano were linked to either tricycle operators or with their aid, which had led to the loss of important belongings and lives.
