MCN closes 5-year humanitarian programme in Yobe
The Managing Conflict in North-East Nigeria (MCN) has rounded off its five years humanitarian intervention in Yobe, one of the North-East states that suffered devastating effects of insurgency in Nigeria.
Mr Sambo Abdulkadir, the Yobe State Team Lead of the Programme disclosed this while marking the closure of programme on Tuesday in Damaturu.
“Today being Jan 17, 2023, we are officially marking the closure of the Managing Conflict North-East Nigeria Programme.
“This is to say that the programme that has lasted between 2017 to 2023 is coming to an end by 31st January of 2023.”, he said.
Abdulkadir added that MCN programme had worked with different sections of stakeholders in the state across justice, security, government officials, Civil Society Organisations, community leaders among other partners.
“Today we have gathered all of them here to to share some of the lessons, impacts and some of the sustainability initiatives that other partners and government needed to take into consideration.”, he said.
He he enjoined all the stakeholders including the other organisations that might be coming to the state to sustain and build on the programme for the benefit of the people of the state.
In his remarks, the Representative of the Chairman Yobe State Council of Chiefs, who is also the MAKI DUBU of the Emirate, Baba Hardo Zarma said the MCN Programme has impacted positively especially in restoring peace and harmonious coexistence between people of local communities.
