The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) said it had registered 60 Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in 2022 compared to previous years in Yobe.
Mr Lawan Dadingelma, the NAFDAC State Co-ordinator made this known in an interview our correspondent on Wednesday in Damaturu.
“There are great improvements in terms of registration of products this year compared to 2021. The agency had registered 30 SMEs last year as against 60 in 2022.
“Around 60 new products are registered or on the process of registration from January this year to date”, he said.
He said that most of the registered products were locally made, such as spices, perfume, soap, ground nut oil, bean cake among others.
Dadingelma added that the development was as result of sensitisation campaigns being carried by the agency in collaboration with the state government.
“In line with this, people are trooping into our various zonal offices in Potiskum, Gashua and the state office in the Damaturu for the registration of new products,’’ he added.
He also explained that the agency’s portal was always open for easy registration of products online.
He commended Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, the Director-General of the agency for providing enabling work environment.
Dadingelma also commended Yobe Government for its support and establishing Ministry for Wealth Creation.
He enjoyed the ministry to collaborate with the agency for registration of more products in the state.
