NEDC donates food, non-food items to Yobe Govt

The North-East Development Commission (NEDC) donated assorted food and non-food items to Yobe state government as humanitarian support to the people of the state.

NEDC’s Managing Director, Mr Mohammed Alkali, who presented the items on Friday in Damaturu, said the donation was in fulfillment of the commission’s pledge on made on August 18, 2022, the Humanitarian Day in Borno.

“Those of you who were present on Aug 18 when President Muhammadu Buhari presided over the world humanitarian day in Borno would witnessed that we made a commitment.

“To provide succor as humanitarian gesture to all the six states in the North-East region, of food and non-food items.

“We are here today in Yobe to concretize the promise.”, Alkali said.

Part of the 10,000 bags of rice donated to Yobe state government by NEDC

The items according to him were 10,000 of 25kg of rice, 5,000 pieces of blankets, 5,000 pieces of mats, 3,000 gallons of vegetable oil, 5,000 pieces of wrappers and 3,000 pieces of shadda.

Alkali noted that as at the time commitment was made there were no issue of flooding.

He however said the commission would make another provision for the victims of flood in the affected states of the region.

Speaking at the occasion, Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state said the donation was timely.

Buni, represented by his Deputy, Alhaji Idi Gubana, thanked the commission for the its continues support to the state and the entire region.
