NEDC flags off construction of mega schools in Yobe

North East Development Commission (NEDC) has flagged off construction of Mega Schools in Yobe state as part the commission’s post insurgency recovery and resettlement plans.

Mr Muhammed Alkali, the NEDC Managing Director disclosed this at the flagging off ceremony on Thursday in Potiskum local government.

He said the commission decided to establish a mega school in each of the 18 senatorial zone in the North East region, including three Yobe senatorial districts.

According to the commission, each of the school after completion would have of 12 classrooms each for Primary and Secondary section laboratory, workshop, computer center.

Others facilities include administration block, dispensary, commercial area, borehole, gate room and 200kva generator to ensure smooth operation and steady power supply.

Moreso, Alkali also flagged off the construction of 54km Ngalda–Mutai road that linked communities of Fika and Gujba Local Government areas .

The MD revealed the 54km road was awarded at the cost of N 12.5 billion.

“This project is one of the significant intervention the commission is executing as part of its mandate towards recovery reconstruction stabilization renewal expansion and sustainable development of the northeast region.

He explained that the project was meant to improve security, economic and social wellbeing of the people of the state.

He also assured that the project would be completed within the stipulated time contained in the contractual agreement.
