Dr. Mohammed Sani Idriss, the Yobe State Commissioner of Basic and Secondary Education, commended Governor Mai Mala Buni for transforming the state’s education sector.

Idriss stated this at the meeting with members of Yobe State Education Trust Fund (YETFUND) on Tuesday in Damaturu.

He said “Prior to Governor Buni’s administration, our performances in West African Examination Council (WAEC) and National Examination Council (NECO) has been something to worry about.

“Yobe state is always ranked number 36 out of 36 state’s, which is a very ugly situation that makes us hide our faces when other states are discussing issues concerning education.

“Very soon Yobe people would begin to rub shoulders on education development with their counterpart from the other states of the nation.”, he said.

The commissioner said, he was optimistic that with the emergence of YETFUND, things would work better and history would be very favourable for state.

He added that, before the end of Buni’s administration, the state would be among the first ten in terms of educational development in the country.

Speaking at the occasion, Engr. Mohammed Abubakar, the Chairman, YETFUND said the meeting with Education Technical Committee was for better understanding of their roles and responsibilities as stakeholders.

Abubakar added that they would put in their best for the interest of Yobe state.
