Yobe Gov. Commissions market of 600 shops, stalls

 

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe has commissioned a new market that contains 100 locked up shops, 500 stalls on Monday in Buni-Yadi, Gujba local.

Buni stated at the occasion that the project was executed by the State Government in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to provide livelihood support and cushion the effects of devastation suffered by this community.

“The resources were pulled together to support our efforts in restoration of means of livelihood to the people.”, he said.

He said the reconstruction of the market would rejuvenate the economy of the people, boost local revenue and fast track the Recovery, Reconstruction and Rehabilitation drive of his administration.

“The attendant advantages of constructing the Market and Motor Park include, conducive environment for business activities, improved sanitary condition and adequate security to lives, properties and wares of the business community.”, he explained.

Buni added that the state had enjoyed other laudable projects in collaboration with UNDP which include rebuilding police station, staff quarters, Shuwari and Kasachiya Primary schools.

Other projects according to him were equipping the General Hospital as well as provision agricultural input support to our farmers all in Buni Yadi.

He therefore enjoined the people of Buni-Yadi to appreciate the gesture and make good use of the structures for their individual and collective benefits.

While he called on the people of the state to continue to pray for internal peace, Buni commended UNDP for their wonderful support to the state.

“I wish to extend our appreciation to our partner, the UNDP through its Regional Stabilisation Facility, the Nigeria Window that helped make this dream come true.

“I am proud to say here that Buni Yadi is one of the best examples of a masterpiece of these developmental projects.”, he added. (inreporters.ng)
