Yobe Gov. commissions modern school constructed by SPDC

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni on Monday commissioned an International Primary School constructed by Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria (SPDC) in Buni Gari, Gujba local government area.

Buni said the construction of Buni Gari International Primary School, by SPDC Ltd in partnership with Yobe State Government would provide children in the community with the opportunity to attend school and obtain education.

“This project will no doubt impact directly on the lives of the beneficiaries. I am optimistic that the project will contribute towards the long-term security and socio-economic status of the beneficiaries.

“It will also increasing their chances to equal opportunity, employment potentials and the resultant economic empowerment which will provide a means of livelihood, protection and resilience in their lives.”, Buni said.

Independent News Reporters (INR) reports that the school contained 4-blocks of Classrooms, with a total number of 16 classrooms; one Administrative building with teacher’s offices, state-of-the-art ICT Lab.

Other facilities were VSAT internet facility; Solar-powered electricity, Water Supply and Sanitation Facilities with male and female conveniences and recreational facilities.

The governor assured that state government would provide the necessary support, staffing, and to make good use of the facilities for the betterment of its people.

He therefore directed Gujba Local Government Council and other relevant agencies to immediately provide the necessary security to the facility.

Buni thanked the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and The Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Ltd, the NNPC/SPDC/TEPNG/Agip Joint Venture and the implementing partners for Educational Emergency Intervention and other sectors in Yobe State. (inreporters.ng)
