Yobe state governor, Mai Mala Buni on the 8th of March, 2023, flagged off the construction of a 34 kilometres Danchua to Jajere Road.

Speaking during the flag off ceremony, the governor revealed that the road had been on the drawing board since 1999.

He said various attempts had been made by previous administrations to construct the road but could not be, because of some challenges.

He pointed out that when the project is completed, the road would unveil and harness the rich agricultural, livestock, and other potentials that abound in the area, as well as improve socio-economic life communities around.

The project was awarded to QUMECS Nig. Ltd. at the cost of N5.2 billion is expected to be completed within 18 months.

He therefore directed the contractors to adhere to all specifications contained in the contractual agreement.

He said the road is meant to facilitate the easy movement of goods and services for socio-economic development of the benefiting communities.

He enjoined the benefitting communities of the project and indeed, all other projects across the state to support and cooperate with the contractors.

He added that supporting government policies and programmes will no doubt encourage the government to execute more projects to the benefit of the people.

To the contracting firm, the governor warned that government would not compromise the quality and standard of work on all other projects.

He also warned supervising engineers against raising certificates for payment of sub-standard work.

Buni emphasised that government must have value for money spent on any project executed in the state.
