Yobe State on Sunday hosted the 2021 Annual International Eid-el-Maulud in Damaturu for the first time in the history of the state.

Our correspondent reports that the festival for observance of the birth of Prophet Muhammad began with lectures on Saturday and ended on Sunday.
Speaking at the occasion, Gov Mai Mala Buni commended Tjjaniyya Group, the organizers of the events, for staging the festival in Yobe.
He noted that Tjjaniyya had a history of religious tolerance and promotion of peace, urging other religious organizations in the country to emulate the group.
Buni represented by his deputy, Alhaji Idi Gubana, implored the Group to pray for an end to the current security challenges in the state and the country at large.
In his remarks, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, a National Leader of the Group, noted that the existence of Prophet Muhammad was the greatest gift and blessing to the mankind by Allah.
He said the essence of Maulud was to honour the Prophet and show love to him, adding that anyone that disliked the Prophet could not be a true Muslim.
The feast day was attended by Tjjaniyya members including Sheikh Mahy Cisse of Senegal, Sheikh Mansur Zamfara and Sheikh Ibrahim Sokoto.
Highlights of the event includes recitation of the Glorious Qur’an and Islamic poems.
