Yusufari hospital project nearing completion – Official

The Yusufari Local Government Council in Yobe, says the general hospital project will be completed in March, to enhance healthcare service delivery at the grassroots.

Bulama Umar, Head of Works Department of the council, stated this during an inspection visit by a team of journalists on Wednesday in Yusufari town.

Umar said the project initiated by Gov. Mai Mala Buni’s administration in Dec. 2020 was designed to upgrade the existing health facility to a general hospital.

“We have done with the construction of the main building, which is about 75 per cent completion.

“It has been roofed, plastered, piped and Plaster of Paris (POP) work is still ongoing, the remaining aspect is tilling and painting,” he said.

He said the project is also designed with staff quarters, morgue, kitchen, laundry, mosque, toilets and walkways.

Umar said that a 150KVA generator would be installed to ensure steady power supply to the facility.

While commending the contractor for quality work, Umar also lauded the state government for ensuring adequate funding of the project.

Also speaking, Rajab Muhammed, the Team Lead, said the inspection exercise was to promote accountability and good governance in the state.
