Damaturu LG creates more sources of revenue

Alhaji Bukar Adamu, the Chairman Damaturu Local Government Area (LGA) of Yobe, says his administration has created additional source for Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

Adamu disclosed this while briefing newsmen who visited the LGA for projects inspection on Wednesday in Damaturu.

He said, one of the projects was a multipurpose hall constructed within Damaturu metropolice, which according to him was funded by Gov Mai mala buni.

He added that, the hall would serve as an income generation source for the local government and as a recreation center to alleviate trauma among the people of the state who suffered more than a decade-long of insurgency.

The Chairman added that the LG had also renovated poultry and fish markets and moved the fishermen and poetry dressers to the new sites to improve hygiene and generate income.

New Damaturu fishermen’s stall

In his remark, Malam Sama’ila Muhammed, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Fishermen and See Food Dealers, Yobe chapter commended the administration of Gov Buni for the gesture.

He appealed to the government to drill boreholes at the new site, saying constant and reliable water source was key to their business.

He enjoined others who were yet to migrate to the new site to do so for quick development of the market.

Also speaking, Mr Rajab Muhammed, the Chairman Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Yobe Council said media would continue to track the performance of political office holders in relation to their election promises.
