Lawmaker empowers women, youth in Yobe state

Khadija Bukar Ibrahim, a member representing Damaturu, Tarmuwa, Gujba and Gulani in the House of Representatives has empowered youths in her constituency.

Khadija disclosed this on Tuesday while flagging off ‘Youth Empowerment and Poverty Alleviation Assistance phase in Damaturu, the Yobe state capital.

“Your excellency, in this phase we are proud to inform you that we are providing youth members of this constituency with 44 units of tricycles, 220 grinding machines, 220 sewing machines, 1,000 wrappers, 1,000 blankets.

“In addition, the package consists of 1,000 pieces of mosquito nets, 100 kilogrammes of 190 bags of Guinea corn, 100 kilogrammes of 190 bags of Maize.

Others are 100 kilogrammes of 186 bags of beans; 401 cartons of spaghetti, 600 gallons of 5-liter cooking oil and 100 gallons of 4-liter cooking oil.”, she said.

The added that the programme would allow hundreds of beneficiaries to become more confident and independent, especially in controlling their lives and those of their dependents.

The Yobe governor Mai Mala Buni, commended the lawmaker for demonstrating her deep concern and desire for empowering the people in the state.

“She has made several efforts before, and today we also witness another landmark in her personal and official capacity for the advancement of wellbeing of the less-privileged and victims of insurgency in her constituency.”, he said.

Buni also appealed to the well-to-do to emulate the benevolent initiative of the lawmaker for the progress of the state and humanity.
