NPC opens portal for ad-hoc employment in Yobe

The National Population Commission (NPC) says it has opened recruitment portal for ad hoc staff for 2023 national Census and encouraged applicant from Yobe.

Alhaji Mai-Aliyu Muhammad, the NPC Federation Commissioner in Yobe made this known at press briefing on Wednesday in Damaturu.

He said to carry out an important task like census, there were need for the recruitment of qualified, indigenous manpower.

He noted that launching of the online e-recruitment portal for at the state level marked the beginning of the recruitment process.

“The need to be fair and transparent in the recruitment process has led the Commission to introduce the online e-recruitment portal.

“The commission also trained officers that will superintend the recruitment process.”, he said.

Muhammad listed the categories of vacancies to include Training Centre Administrators, Monitoring and Evaluations Officers, Data Quality Managers.

Other positions were Data Quality Assistants, Supervisors and Enumerators respectively.

“The number of functionaries to be recruited in each category will depend on the number of available vacancies in each State.

”Which will be derived largely from the total number of Enumeration Areas (EA) in the States.”, he explained.

Muhammad emphasised that bulk of personnel for the exercise would be drawn from the communities where they are resident.

“This will remove the huge logistics of moving personnel across the country.

“Consequently, every community will have the opportunity of contributing to the census workforce thereby ensuring that the people are adequately counted.”, he said.

He called on the people of the state to continue to cooperate with the commission and security agencies.

He enjoined them to report any suspicious person to security operatives to achieve success in the exercise.
