2023: NGO educatse public on peaceful election in Yobe


JohnBally Humanitarian Society, a Non Governmental Organisation supported by USAID on Thursday organised a 1-day workshop to educate public on the importance of peaceful conduct 2023 general elections in Yobe.

Mr John Balami, the Executive Director JohnBally Humanitarian Society who addressed newsmen at the occasion said the aim of the workshop was to propagate peaceful and credible 2023 general elections.

“We understand that the lives of people is a very paramount to all of us and it is important to ensure that nobody get injured of lost his life during the election period.”, he said.

Balami said the invited stakeholders include officials of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, politicians, youth groups among others.

He added that the participants would assist in identifying some of the root causes of electoral violence and how to avoid their occurrence.

Alhaji Muhammed Shettima, the Head of Department of Political Party Monitoring, INEC said commended the organisation of the workshop, saying it was timely and a move to a right direction.

He added that the gesture also complemented INEC’s alignment campaign to the general public against election violence.

Also speaking, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, the Police Public Relations Officer said any move to educate public on the importance of peaceful coexistence was welcome.

Police were equally getting prepared the the forthcoming general elections by training its personnel and provide necessary equipments.
