Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has been in close contact with the Federal Government to expedite the reconstruction of the vandalized 330KVA towers.

This information is contained in a press release signed by Alhaji Baba Malam Wali, the Secretary to the State Government, on Saturday in Damaturu.

It is recalled that suspected Boko Haram insurgents on Thursday vandalized three towers of the 330KVA High Tension Line from Gombe to Damaturu, Yobe State capital, which also connected some parts of Borno State.

According to the statement, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has already awarded a contract for the reconstruction of the affected towers.

Meanwhile, the Governor has directed the Rural Electrification Board (R.E.B) and Yola Electric Distribution Company (YEDC) to immediately restore the 33KV line from Potiskum to Damaturu in order to provide alternative power to Damaturu and its environs.

Governor Buni, therefore, appeals to the general public to exercise patience as the government is doing everything possible to address the situation.

He further calls upon the general public to continue to pray for peace and prosperity in the State and the country at large.
