NHIA sensitises retirees on new reforms , developments

 

The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) on Thursday sensitised retirees on the new reforms and developments of the authority as its affect them.

The NHIA State Coordinator, Malam Mansur Akilu, said the Authority deemed it fit to acquainted retirees with the ongoing reforms and developments as critical stakeholders.

Akilu, represented by Dr Salisu Hassan, the NHIA Head of Enlightenment, said retirees and their families were important citizens that were covered by the reform.

“So we gathered them here to equip them with the new developments in NHIA and to tell them the processes to follow to get themselves and their families covered health wise.

“We are also here to inform them about the new reforms in the NHIA especially the review of operational guidelines,” he said.

The coordinator said the authority was meant to regulate, promote and integrate health insurance in Nigeria.

“We are to ensure that we cover all the segments of Nigerian population whether in public sector, self-employed retirees and the vulnerable groups, ” he explained.

One of the participants, DSP Kule Babale (rtd), the Chairman Association of Retired Police Officers commended NHIA for integrating retirees and their families.

He appealed for special consideration for retirees at various health facilities due to their old age and health conditions.
