DG warns corps members against night journey

The Director-General National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Brig.-Gen. YD Ahmed has cautioned corps members against endangering their lives by embarking on night journeys.

Ahmed gave warning while Addressing the 2023 Batch C stream 1 corps members deployed to Yobe on Wednesday.

He advised them to plan their trips accordingly and seek safe accommodation if they find themselves traveling after nightfall.

Ahmed assured corps members that they would be granted shelter at corps lodges, military formations, or other designated safe locations if the need arises.

He further emphasised the importance of avoiding areas that their instincts perceived as dangerous.

The DG emphasised the significance of the NYSC scheme in fostering national unity and promoting peaceful coexistence.

He reminded corps members that their service year provided an opportunity to contribute to the vital goals of the scheme.

He also encouraged them to take advantage of the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Programme (SAED) offered by the NYSC.

“This program aims to equip corps members with practical skills that can enhance their employability after their service year,” he added.

Mrs. Hafsat Yerima, the State Coordinator the 1,113 corps members registered, were conducting themselves well and fully embracing the regimental life of the orientation course.
