The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has partnered with the Yobe State Government to empower community development officers (CDOs) with enhanced skills and essential resources.

This collaborative effort aims to strengthen grassroots development initiatives across the state’s 17 local government areas.

A recent press release issued by the Yobe State Ministry of Information highlighted a two-day capacity-building workshop organized by JICA in Abuja.

The intensive training program equipped CDOs with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively educate, enlighten, and engage their communities on matters of public importance.

The workshop covered various aspects of community development, including communication strategies, project management, and conflict resolution.

Following the workshop, JICA, through the North East Development Commission (NEDC), provided each CDO with a portable public address system.

This vital resource will significantly enhance the CDOs’ ability to communicate effectively with their communities during sensitization campaigns, public gatherings, and other outreach activities.

Hon. Abdullahi Bego, the Commissioner of Information, represented, emphasized the significance of this initiative during the event.

He noted that the public address systems were donated to the Yobe State Government by NEDC with the specific aim of supporting CDOs in carrying out their crucial work across the state.

Hon. Bego commended JICA and NEDC for their dedication to empowering Yobe State’s communities and assured the CDOs of the state government’s unwavering support under the leadership of Governor Mai Mala Buni.

Speaking on behalf of the CDOs, Bulama Jalaludin, a CDO from Tarmuwa Local Government Area, expressed their sincere gratitude to the State Ministry of Information for its continuous support and encouragement.

He expressed the CDOs’ commitment to utilizing the public address systems responsibly and effectively to drive positive change within their communities.

This collaborative effort between JICA, the Yobe State Government, and NEDC exemplifies a commitment to empowering local communities and fostering sustainable development at the grassroots level.

By equipping CDOs with the necessary skills and resources, this initiative paves the way for more effective communication, engagement, and positive change within Yobe State’s communities.
