The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) says security is every Nigerians’ business.
Mr Adamu Zakari, the NSCDC Yobe State Commandant stated this at the celebration of International Civil Defense Day on Friday in Damaturu.
He said security challenges all over the world needed a holistic approach to be addressed.
He added that security agencies alone in Nigeria cannot do the job without the support of Nigerians.
“So it is our collective responsibility to see that we are secured. Because without security, development is going to be elusive.
“So Nigerians as a whole and security agencies in particular need to put heads together to address any security challenge facing the country.
“It is a fact of history all over the world, the success of any security agency lies in the community it operates in.
“Nigeria cannot be an exception. And to bring it home here, Yobe state cannot be an exception,” he said.
While he commended other sister security agencies for good synergy, Zakari appreciated the Yobe government for its support and cooperation.
The commandant commemorated with some officers in the command who paid the supreme price of their lives in the line of duty.
He also congratulated newly recruited officers and charged them to be dedicated to serving the country.
