Kano Pilgrims Get Relief: Governor Approves N500,000 Hajj Subsidy

In a move to ease the burden on intending pilgrims due to rising Hajj costs, Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has announced a N500,000 subsidy for each pilgrim from the state participating in the 2024 Hajj pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia.

This news comes after the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) increased Hajj fees, posing a challenge for many aspiring pilgrims. Governor Yusuf’s subsidy aims to alleviate this financial strain.

Alhaji Lamin Dan-Baffa, Director-General of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, confirmed the subsidy during a press briefing on Wednesday. Over 2,900 intending pilgrims who already made a partial payment to the board will benefit from this initiative.

Dan-Baffa reminded all pilgrims to settle their remaining balance before the March 28th deadline set by NAHCON.
