Army organises inter schools quiz competition in Yobe

The Nigerian Army North East (NE) Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) has organised inter school quiz competition in Yobe state.

The Commander, Sector 2 Joint Task Force, Maj.-Gen. Mayirenso Saraso said the competition was part of the army Corporate Social Responsibility and Non Kinetic Approach of fighting insurgency.

Saraso, represented by Col. Liafis Bello, the Commander Sector Signals Brigade said the maiden competition was among six public schools across the three Senatorial Zones of the state.

He added that it was also meant to strengthen Civil-Military Relationship and sustain the non kinetic approach of eradicating Boko Haram insurgency in the region.

He noted that the gesture was part of the efforts of the Theater Commander OPHK, Maj.-Gen. Gold Chuibuzi to win the hearts and minds of the citizens within the region.

Speaking, Dr. Muhammad Idriss, the Commissioner Yobe Ministry of Basi and Secondary Education said the initiative would complement the state government’s effort of reviving education standard the students.

Idris, represented by Hamidu Alhaji, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry said Gov Mai Mala Buni’s administration was committed to revitalizing the education sector.

Which according to him, led to the declaration of state of emergency in the basic and secondary education sector of the state.

The Commissioner called on other organizations to emulate the Nigerian army’s gesture and commitments.
