United Marketers Association Potiskum Chapter, on Friday organised a special prayer seeking for divine intervention to rising cost of living in the country.

Alhaji Nasiru Mato, the Chairman of the association, said that they were deeply concerned about the escalating cost of living exacerbated by the removal of fuel subsidies by the Federal Government.

He said the members of the association decided to organise a special prayer and seek for Allah’s forgiveness and divine intervention.

“As God says, anytime you are facing challenges you should come back to Him and seek for His forgiveness and ask Him for the way forward.

“We resorted to prayers instead of protest like they have already started in some places. We are not going out for protest’’, he said.

As a representative of marketers, Mato emphasised that they were facing significant challenges similar to those experienced by other segments of the population.

He observed the effectiveness of palliative measures, stating that they only provide temporary relief and are not sustainable in the long term.

Another critical issues highlighted by Mato was the high concentration of youth unemployment.

He stressed the urgent need for governments at all levels to take decisive measures to address the issues and alleviate the suffering of the people.
