NSCDC Yobe command lists achievements within 6 months

The Nigeria Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Yobe State Command enumerated some critical achievements recorded under the six months administration of Mr Sa’idu Aliyu, the state’s Commandant.

The Command’s Spokesperson, Mr Bala Garba, made this known in a statement on Thursday in Damaturu.

The statement reads as follows:

SUMMARY REPORT OF COMMANDANT’S ACHIEVEMENT WITHIN THE PERIOD OF SIX MONTHS

Commandant Sa’idu Yakubu Aliyu of NSCDC Yobe State Command upon assumption of duty as a state Commandant on the 4th July, 2022, fostered on the followings to enhance the performance of Corps in the State:

INTER-AGENCY COLLABORATION

Base on the recent redeployment made by the Commandant General Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi PhD mni OFR on the 30th June, 2022 in line with his policies and procedures to rejig, revamp, rejuvenate and re-position the Corps to perform optimally, CC Saidu Y. Aliyu haven relieved CC Useni David Navokhi on the 4th July, 2022, embarked on familiarization visit with the key stakeholders in the State for creation of resndezvous to serve better.

After his meeting with the governor of Yobe State, H.E Alhaji Mai Mala Buni (Chiroman Gujba) on the 25th July, 2022, the Commandant extents hand of fellowship to strengthen the relationship between the Corps and the traditional institutions in the State. He paid homage to HRH Emir of Fika

Alh Dr. Muhammadu Ibn Abali Muhammadu Idrissa Chairman Yobe State council of Chiefs, HRH Emir of Pataskum Alh Umaru Bubaram Ibn Wuriwa Bauya, HRH Emir of Bade Alh Dr. Abubakar Umar Sulaiman, HRH Emir of Damaturu Alh Shehu Hashimi II Al’amin Ibn Umar Elkanemi among host of others. And also paid courtesies to sister security service chiefs in the State to boost the already existing robust synergy with the view to work incollaboration and co-operation.

PASSING OUT PARADE OF THE NEWLY RECUITED PERSONNEL

Upon assumption of office, at the verge of the passing out parade of the 2019 intake held on the 6th July, 2022. CC Sa’idu ensured that, the simulation exercise was mastered by the recruits for a befitting POP. The event was graced by dignitaries from all walks of life, ranging from sister security agencies, nongovernmental organizations, and traditional rulers amongst host of others. Special adviser to his Excellency on security affairs represent the Yobe State government. The events recorded a huge success.

AGRO RANGERS

In his effort to revive and revamp the Agro Rangers Unit to ensure adequate protection of both farmers and herders to include all Agro-allied facilities to boost food security in Yobe State in line with the commandant General change Mantra, the State commandant allocated a serviceable Hilux vehicle to the Unit and ensure a holistic patrol of all farm land and ranches within their reach in the State in order to provide security coverage to stem the tide of destructions or grazing up farm produce by herders and equally incessant Cattle Rustling which has become an order of the day in some part of Bade, Jakusko, Fune and Damaturu LGA respectively. The effort made by the State commandant has already yielded a tremendous results which brought about commendations by the members of the society to the Corps.

REPAIRS OF OPERATIONAL VEHICLES

Hence the need to achieve a change mantra of the CG, CC Sa’idu declared a state of emergency on all the operational Vehicle in the Command to ensure them serviceable for any type of operations. At first, the commandant took over the possessions of the vehicles from his predecessor deplorable condition, ranging from worn out tyres and other mechanical faults. But before his 40 working days in office, all the vehicles has been put in order and also rebranded base on the specification of the CGs directive.

LAUNCHING OF FEMALE STRIKE FORCE

Upon assumption of duty, Commandant Sa’idu noticed that, Female Squad has not yet launched in Yobe as against the directive by the Commandant General Ahmed Abubakar Audi PhD, mni OFR to the 36 State Command including FCT to form Female Strike Force. He therefore gave an immediate directive to HOD training to parade all female officers for screening, and commence the training with immediate effect. The training has started with focal interest to key into the CGs save school initiative and nipping in the bud other social vices to include Sexual Gender Base Violence (SGBV) in the State. And finally, a well formidable Female Strike Force has been launched on the 25th November, 2022

CAPACITY BUILDING OF PERSONNEL

Training and re training is one of the major concern of the CGs change mantra, therefore, CC Sa’idu Y. Aliyu also focused on training. Before his 40 days in office, he partner with the British Council and Program manager of managing conflict in North East via gender desk officer and PRO of the Command and train All gender desk officers of the Corps across the State on Sexual Gender Base Violence and Gender Base Violence (SGBV and GBV).

There was also in house training for officers and men of the Corps at the Command to acquaint them with the current code of conduct and standard operational procedure (SOP)

GENERAL OPERATIONS

The Commandant in his wisdom, organized a special operation with code name (Operation Flush) to rid of all sort of criminalities in the State with main target, the Damaturu Sunday market which has become an operational ground to pickpockets syndicates militating against the smooth transaction that jeopardizes the Internal Generated Revenue IGR of the State.

The operation so far has yielded a tremendous result, thereby led to the apprehensions and prosecutions of many offenders.

All critical infrastructures in the State has been well manned and directive of the CG to deploy NSCDC personnel to all correctional centers has been adhered to without delay.

PROTECTION OF CRITICAL NATIONAL ASSET AND INFRASTRUCTURE IN THE STATE

NECO, INEC and JAMB offices among other critical infrastructures in the State were fortified with arm personnel to ensure water tide security to for stall any eventualities by unsuspecting miscreants. Furthermore, the Anti Vandal unit of the corps has been reawakened with the view to for stall sharp practices and diversion of premium motor spirit (PMS) in the State.
