Observers describe Yobe East Bye-Election free, fair and credible

The Coalition of INEC Accredited Domestic Election Observer Groups expressed satisfaction over the processes for the conduct of Yobe East Senatorial bye-election.

Mr Victor Kalu, the Coalition Team Leader stated this while addressing newsmen shortly after INEC had declared Alhaji Musa Mustapha of APC winner of the election on Sunday in Damaturu.

He said after careful and successful observation of the entire, they became convinced that the process of the exercise was satisfactory.

“We conclude by stating very categorically that the Yobe East Senatorial District bye-election of Feb 3 2024 actually took place as scheduled under a very peaceful and calm atmosphere.

The exercise was transparent, credible, free and fair in line with democratic tenets constitutional elections.

“We therefore adjudge it to have met the international best practices for democratic election.

“The results and out of the election should therefore be accepted by all as a true reflection of the majority of voters in State,” Kalu said.

He urged the winner of the election to reach out to all segments of the society and show magnanimity in victory.

He also appealed to those who lost out in the election to show a good spirit of sportsmanship, which according him was the beauty of democracy.

He commended people of Yobe East Senatorial District for trooping out en mass to elect a candidate of their choice without any harassment or intimidation
