Senate President casts vote in his town, Gashua

The Senate President, Ahmed Lawan has cast vote around 10:28am in his 001B polling unit, at Katuzu Primary School, Gashua.
Lawan expressed satisfaction with process shortly after casting and described it as significant in Nigeria’s political history.
“Today’s elections are very significant for so many reasons. One of the major reasons is what the nineth National Assembly done, for the amendment of Electoral Act.
“It give INEC sufficient latitude to introduce more technical for the election process.
“It didn’t take me more than a minute to go through BVAS accreditation process and less than a minute to cast my vote,” he said.
He also expressed optimism that the process would assist in producing desired leadership for Nigeria.
“This is very important for our democracy in Nigeria. Because the process cuts out any tendency compromise, fraud, multiple voting among other things,” added.
One of the Presiding Officers, Rahama Ahmed informed our correspondent that INEC officials and election materials arrived the centre 6:00am.
ASP Alhaji Audi, the Head of security team at the centre said there were no security change at the centre.
